Councilman-Elder Barry N. Goode is a life-long resident of New Jersey born in Newark, he grew up in East Orange where he graduated from East Orange High School. A Business Administraion major wasn’t enough for him something was missing. He later answered the call into the ministry in 1987. He later attended and graduated from the Bethlehem Temple School of biblical studies in Pa. He married his teenage sweetheart in 1990. In 1997 he moved his family to Plainfield where he currently resides now for 21 years.
In the year 2000 he took a leave from corporate America to be his wifes primary caregiver due to her terminal illness of 5 years, Councilman Goode was a devoted husband and is a devoted father. Even through unfortunate events his faith in God never wavered he raised his two children who were both honor students and graduated from the Plainfield School. District. A devoted, concerned and involved parent, Barry became the liaison with the schools’ PTO and worked with the administration to ensure the quality of education for all the students. He is an active Ordained Elder at the Bibleway Deliverance Center in Roselle NJ where Bishop Wayne L. Johnson is the presiding prelate.
He is the President of the Melrose Block Association and is instrumental in working with the Plainfield Block Association dealing with many issues mainly quality of life. He has also been a volunteer for feeding and clothing the homeless, and spearheading food drives and pantries. In 2015 Councilman Goode decided to run for an at-large City Council seat which he won. He credits a great deal of that success to hard work a great team and the Honorable Mayor Adrian O Mapp. Councilman Goode serves on many committees in the community two being the Chair of Public Safety and laison to our seniors. On September 8, 2017 Councilman Goode was presented a Certificate for successfully completing a course for the Police Chaplain Program as he will also add this to his service in the community for the Police Division right here in the City of Plainfield. In 2019 Councilman Goode decided to seek re-election that he would remain in office. On November 5, 2019 he was victorious and was sworn in January 6, 2020 for another four years.
Councilman Goode is very passionate about all that he does, whether it be reading to the children every month at the library spending time with the seniors and proudly serving the constituents in Plainfield. He has also been very successful with singing and Stand-Up Comedy. He cares a great deal about his ministry and The City of Plainfield and he feels his passion and actions alone will speak for him.
